Reporter:Ville, one of the things you're known for is the fact that you don't like The Beatles. Why is that? Ville:There was some sort of rivalry between The Beatles and Rolling Stones. My parents were fans of Mick Jagger and i sort of grew up with his music.Besides,i like it when the music is more aggressive, when there's an element of danger.Òhe Beatles are too "pop" for my taste, you know,a happy boy band. But then again, that's just my opinion. Reporter:Who writes the lyrics of your songs and how do you find inspiration? Ville:Well,i do,in most cases. As a front man it's easy for me to write songs because later ,when i sing them ,they must sound very personal.I think there's quite a lot of irony in our songs. The process of writing is both hard and easy.I'm trying to express a situation.I'm in to give spirit to the things i'm going through. The precious things are hidden behind simple gestures and everyday faces, they just have to be found and described. Reporter:In September you'll be in a studio to do the recording on your new album. What's it going to be like? Ville:We still don't know for certain what the album's going to be like ,but it surely won't be as plastic as "Deep Shadows...".We'll probably try to work the things out very deeply. But we don't intend to change our style. Reporter:Will you keep the "gothic spirit" of you music? Ville:I don't think our music has that kind of spirit so i don't see how or why we should keep it. Reporter:What's your style then? Ville:It's impossible to give an exact definition. If you make your way into music without limitations, there won't be any style definitions for you.Our music comes naturally ,we don't try to fit it particular frames. It's like a puzzle of sounds, you just find the pieces and put them together.Franñ Zappa ones said that to expalin music is like to dance architecture.(smiles) Reporter:Media proclaims you for a sex-simbol.How do you accept that kind of popularity? Ville:I really don't think about such things.I've always believed that it's only music that matters. As a kid i had many idols ,that's not bad ,but i don't think it will make me feel better as a human being. |
